The second edition of Rubavu Music Awards & Talent Detection celebrated outstanding artists and emerging talents from the lakeside district as part of ongoing efforts to revive and strengthen the local entertainment industry.
Held on Saturday, June 13, at Kivu Intare Arena, the event recognized artists who outshined during the 2025–2026 season after 400 talents participated in this year’s competition across Rubavu District.
Rubavu Music Awards continue to serve as a platform for recognizing excellence, discovering new talent, and promoting the growth of the creative industry in the tourism town.
Minister of Youth and Arts, Dr. Abdallah Utumatwishima, who joined music lovers and artists at the event, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting young talents. He also commended renowned artists Riderman and Bwiza for inspiring and encouraging upcoming musicians through their performances.
“As Minister of Youth and Arts, I pledge continued support and even greater backing for the third edition,” said Utumatwishima, announcing plans for a talent development camp that will bring together the winners to discuss opportunities and strategies for advancing their artistic careers.
“This support will continue, and I commend the district for its ongoing efforts in talent detection and development,” he added.

Winners
The sibling gospel duo Alicia & Germaine, who are steadily making a name for themselves on Rwanda’s music scene, won the Best Gospel Artist award, while Bruce Melodie was named the Most Popular Artist in Rubavu District.
