Rwanda confirms six Omicron cases

Rwanda has registered six-first Omicron cases as Ministry of Health cautioned the public though announcement.

The Ministry of Health announced Omicron cases to a ministerial meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame held at Urugwiro Village yesterday 14th November 2021.

The announcement says “The six Omicron cases recorded from travellers ‘tests that came from outside the country and people they met.”

The new variant of SARS-CoV-2, B.1.1.529 was reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) on November 24, 2021.

This Omicron was first detected in specimens in Botswana and on South Africa collected on November 11, 2021 and November 14, 2021respectively.

Omicron is reportedly to spread easily though it remains mysterious to scientists, illness it causes or if vaccines and medications work against it are available.
