Rwanda has raised concerns of free movement of people and goods following the decision taken by Burundi to close its borders with Rwanda.
This comes nearly two weeks after Burundi accused its neighbor, Rwanda, of supporting rebels, RED-Tabara, who carried out attacks on its soil.
The Government of Rwanda in statement released after few hours said it “has learned through media reports of the unilateral decision by the Government of Burundi to again close its borders with Rwanda.”
“This unfortunate decision will restrict the free movement of people and goods between the two countries, and violates the principles of regional cooperation and integration of the East African Community,” the statement reads in part.
